CELEBRATE THE UNOFFICIAL LAST WEEKEND OF SUMMER IN DALLAS WITH ANY OF THESE EVENTS AND FESTIVALS.

 

Labor Day is September 4, so it's time to start making plans for the long weekend to finish out the sunny season. Whether you're with the kids or looking for a couples' getaway, Dallas has an extensive line-up of events and festivals to celebrate.

Labor Day Weekend at the Dallas Arboretum 

Sept. 2-4

Good for: An outing with the whole family   

What to expect: Hang out in the gardens for a weekend full of fun activities the whole family will love. Enjoy live music, food trucks and a bubble performer Saturday and Sunday. They will also have jumbo lawn games, wine samplings and $2 hot dogs and root beer floats through Monday! See the full schedule here.

Riverfront Jazz Festival 

Sept.1-3

Good for: Jazz lovers     

What to expect: A music-filled weekend to help bring your summer to a close at the very first Riverfront Jazz Festival! The festival kicks off Friday, September 1 at Texas Horse Park with an exciting line-up of Jazz and R&B artists including Erykah Badu, Melanie Fiona, Ruben Studdard and Keith Anderson, just to name a few. The music continues at several hotels nearby with nightly after-hours Jam Sessions featuring local artists.

 Fair Park Blues and Jazz Festival 

Sept. 3

Good for: A musical date night

What to expect: A lovely night of dancing and music with your best friend, favorite aunt or life partner. The Fair Park Blues and Jazz Festival is celebrating its fourth year on the festival circuit on the African American Museum lawn and will bring some of the best local and national blues and jazz artists, like the R.L. Griffin & Band, Sandra Kaye and Def to Radio to their main stage. Check out the food and beverage vendors on the scene to sip and snack while enjoying the show. 

Labor of Love Homebrew Festival 

Sept.3

Good for: Beer enthusiasts and their closest friends

What to expect: An evening of brews and blues at the Deep Ellum Brewing Company. Now in its sixth year, this competition brings together the best brews that are tasted and judged by a group of panelists. Your ticket includes access to the festival, unlimited beer samples and a front-row seat to the live music acts. And you won't have to go far for dinner - food trucks will be selling bites and snacks throughout the night.
